A guided adult gap year program for people who are ready to stop postponing the life that keeps calling them.
Before taking my adult gap year, I struggled a lot with burnout, and overall felt unsatisfied with my life. Going through the motions, not really living, every day felt the same, and I was tired of it. I wanted to make a greater impact in my life and create real change. I thought ” I can’t keep doing life this way forever.”
After taking my first international trip to Japan something changed in me. I wanted more from life. Me and my wife over a glass of wine (where the best ideas happen), wondered what was stopping us from quitting our jobs and traveling the world. So we made a plan and did it.
In 2019, after nearly 20 years in corporate life, I quit my job and traveled across 20 countries on 4 continents. That trip didn’t magically fix everything, but it gave me something another vacation couldn’t: space to hear myself again.
I had more creativity, a renewed passion for life, more connection with people from all over the world. And most of all, more freedom than I have ever felt since I was a young child on summer break. The possibilities were endless. And I returned with a new purpose to never go back to corporate life again and do something that actually helps people.
Before taking this trip I asked myself, what is my life worth? Both of my parents left this world way too young and I didn’t want to just waste away with a stressful job for the rest of my life. It impacted my marriage, my energy, how I showed up to others, and worst of all my health. I really want to help you have these experiences and the pattern interrupt to see what is truly possible for you..
That is the heart of The Mid-Life Travel Awakening.
This small-group founding beta is for people in their 40s and 50s who feel burned out, restless, or quietly disconnected and want to explore a meaningful adult gap year or travel sabbatical without blowing up the life they’ve worked hard to build.
This is not about running away. Instead, it’s about creating enough distance to see clearly, reconnect with yourself, and design a more intentional next chapter before retirement.
The Mid-Life Travel Awakening is a small-group founding beta for people in their 40s and 50s who feel burned out, restless, or quietly disconnected and want to explore a meaningful adult gap year or travel sabbatical without blowing up the life they’ve worked hard to build.
Founding beta: 20 spots at $497
Future investment: $1,997
This is for you if you feel the pull, but you need a real plan.
The Mid-Life Travel Awakening is for people in their 40s and 50s who look functional on the outside but feel quietly disconnected on the inside. You can certainly be in a different age bracket, but it seems like so many in this time in life start feeling the pull.
You may not want to burn everything down, or quit your job tomorrow, or sell all your stuff and become a wandering forest wizard with a backpack. But you might just know that something needs to shift.
This is for you if you:
- Feel burned out, restless, or numb from years of responsibility.
- Keep imagining what it would feel like to take a few months to travel, breathe, and think.
- Want more than a vacation, but aren’t sure what that actually means yet.
- Worry a career break might look irresponsible, risky, or hard to explain.
- Have real-life logistics to consider, like money, work, housing, pets, bills, insurance, or family.
- Want travel to be meaningful, not just a prettier version of avoidance. Crave space to reconnect with who you are and what you want next.
The Mid-Life Travel Awakening is not for people looking for a luxury travel package or a pre-made itinerary.
This is for people who want to use travel as a doorway into a more honest, alive, and intentional next chapter.

What We’ll Work Through Together
This is where the dream becomes grounded.
An adult gap year is not just a travel decision. It’s a life design decision. Inside The Mid-Life Travel Awakening, we’ll work through five core pieces:
1. What you’re stepping away from
Before you design the journey, you need to understand what you’re trying to get distance from. Not because your life is bad. Because some parts of it may no longer fit who you’re becoming.
2. Why travel is calling
A meaningful sabbatical is not about collecting passport stamps. We’ll explore what kind of travel would help you reconnect with yourself, whether that means creativity, courage, peace, purpose, adventure, healing, or simply feeling alive again.
3. The practical bridge
The dream needs structure. We’ll look at the real-life logistics that make a sabbatical feel possible instead of reckless:
- Money
- Timeline
- Work and career
- Housing
- Pets and family
- Bills and insurance
- Travel style/Meaning
- Return plan
These details are not the boring part. They are what allow your nervous system to stop screaming, “Absolutely not, Captain Chaos.”
4. The identity shift
A travel sabbatical is not only about leaving. It’s about becoming someone who no longer needs permission to want more from life. We’ll work with the fears that surface when you start taking the dream seriously:
Is this reckless, or is it responsible to listen before burnout makes the decision for me?
How do I step away without feeling like I’m throwing away everything I’ve built?
Can I take a meaningful pause without falling behind professionally?
What will people think if I choose something they don’t understand?
Who am I when I’m not constantly producing, proving, or being the dependable one?
What happens if travel shows me I don’t want to return to life exactly as it was?
Those questions are not signs you should stop. They are signs you’re finally getting close to something real.
5. The return
The goal is not to disappear into the sunset and hope life magically sorts itself out. The goal is to return clearer, calmer, and more connected to yourself. You’ll begin shaping language, direction, and a next-step plan for the life you want to return to. This keeps the emotional depth but makes it easier to scan.
What you’ll receive during the beta
This is not a self-paced course you disappear into and never finish.
It’s a guided beta experience with live support, reflection, community, and practical planning.
Live beta calls
We’ll meet live to work through the core pieces of designing a meaningful adult gap year or travel sabbatical.
These sessions are where we slow down the real questions, work through resistance, and turn the dream into something grounded.
Guided reflection prompts
You’ll receive prompts to help you understand what you’re craving, what you’re outgrowing, and what kind of journey could support the next version of your life.
Practical planning support
We’ll talk through the adult stuff: Money. Timing. Work. Housing. Pets. Bills. Insurance. Travel logistics. Re-entry. Because pretending those things don’t matter is not transformational. It’s just bad planning in a cute hat.
Private founding member community
You’ll be in a smaller room with other people asking bigger questions about life, work, freedom, travel, and what comes next. This is where you can share reflections, ask questions, and feel less alone in a dream most people around you may not fully understand.
Recordings
Sessions will be recorded so you can catch up if life does what life does.
A voice in shaping the future program
Because this is the founding beta, your questions and feedback will help shape the full version of The Mid-Life Travel Awakening. You’re not just joining a program. You’re helping build the first real version of it with your feedback.
Founding spots are limited to 20 participants at the beta price.
Beta vs. Future Version
Why join the beta instead of waiting?
Future rounds will likely be more polished. This founding beta will be more personal. That’s the tradeoff.
Joining now gives you the lower price, a smaller group, more direct conversation, and a real voice in shaping what this becomes.
Later versions will have more refined curriculum, finalized worksheets, and cleaner delivery systems. However, that polish will come with a higher price and less room for co-creation.
So waiting may make sense if you want everything fully built before you step in.
But if this dream has been circling your mind for a while, the beta gives you something the future version won’t: early access, more intimacy, and the chance to stop figuring this out alone.
In the beta, you’ll receive:
- The founding member price of $497
- A smaller group experience
- More direct access and conversation
- More opportunity to ask questions
- A more responsive, co-created experience
- The chance to shape the full program
- Early access before the public launch
In the future version, the program will likely include:
- A more polished curriculum
- More finalized worksheets and resources
- A larger delivery structure
- Less participant shaping
- Less direct co-creation
- A full investment of $1,997
So yes, the future version will be more refined.
But the beta gives you more access, more intimacy, more influence, and a much lower founding price.
If you like being in the first group, helping shape the thing, and getting closer support before it becomes more polished and more expensive, the beta is the better fit. And even better, you will retain access as I build out the more polished version.
Why you can trust this work
The Mid-Life Travel Awakening is new. The foundation behind it is not.
This work comes from years of lived experience with long-term international travel, career transition, practical sabbatical planning, budget-conscious travel, remote income exploration, and the deeper identity work that happens when you step away from the life you’ve been performing.
In 2019, after nearly 20 years in corporate life, I left my job and traveled across 22 countries on 4 continents. That trip didn’t magically solve everything. But it gave me something another vacation could not. The trip made me feel alive, free, more creative and more fun. It was finally giving myself permission to be the real me, and not the one buried under a job I wasn’t aligned with.
Now I help mid-life professionals explore their own version of that pause — not recklessly, not impulsively, and not as some dramatic “burn it all down” fantasy.
But as a responsible, meaningful reset before retirement.
The travel sabbatical dream does not need to stay hypothetical.
Nothing dramatic happens if you don’t do this. Your life will keep moving. The calendar will keep filling. The responsible choices will keep sounding reasonable. And the part of you asking for more space may get quieter again. That is the risk. Not that everything falls apart. That nothing changes.
The Mid-Life Travel Awakening exists for the moment before “someday” becomes the pattern again.
This is your chance to explore the adult gap year dream with structure, support, and real-life planning — so you can stop carrying it quietly and start taking it seriously.
Founding beta: 20 spots at $497
Future investment: $1,997
This isn’t about quitting your job tomorrow, selling everything you own, or escaping responsibility under the banner of “finding yourself.”
It’s about creating enough distance from your routines, roles, and expectations that you can hear what’s already there, without blowing up the life you’ve worked hard to build. An adult gap year can create that space. Literally the whole world, with new perspectives, and likely more clarity on what you love in life.
Most people think they need answers before they take this trip.
In reality, space is what allows the truth to surface. Not a new identity.
A remembered one.
Let’s Awaken Together! Get ready for your adult gap year and transform your life.

This is an Experience
The Mid-Life Travel Awakening is a new guided experience, but the work behind it has been years in the making.
It is built from:
- Long-term international travel experience
- Career transition experience
- Real-life sabbatical planning
- Budget-conscious travel strategies
- Remote income exploration
- Meaningful travel practices
- Life design and reflection work
- Conversations with people who are burned out, restless, and ready for something different
This is not a theory pulled from a trendy article about sabbaticals.
It comes from lived experience. It comes from the belief that travel can become more than escape when it is designed with intention. And it comes from knowing that many mid-life professionals are not lazy, lost, or irresponsible.
They are often deeply capable people who have spent years building a life that no longer gives them enough room to breathe. The Mid-Life Travel Awakening is designed to help create that room.
Frequently Asked Questions For an Adult Gap Year
Is this only for people who are ready to quit their job?
No. This is for people who are exploring the possibility of a travel sabbatical, adult gap year, career break, or meaningful pause. You do not need to have your decision made. You just need to be willing to explore the question honestly.
Do I need to know where I want to travel?
No. You may have a specific destination in mind, or you may only know that you need space. Both are welcome.
Part of the work is discovering what kind of travel would actually serve this season of your life.
Is this about luxury travel?
No. This is not about luxury travel, status travel, or escaping life through expensive experiences. It is about meaningful, intentional travel that supports clarity, freedom, and transformation.
What if I have a job, house, pets, bills, or family responsibilities?
Then congratulations, you are an adult with a plotline. This experience is designed for people with real lives and real responsibilities. We will not ignore those things. We will work with them.
What if I’m scared this is irresponsible?
That fear makes sense. Most people in mid-life have spent decades being practical, dependable, and responsible. The goal is not to abandon responsibility. The goal is to stop using responsibility as a reason to abandon yourself.
Does the trip have to be for a year?
No, the trip can be what you choose, but I highly recommend no less than a month as a bare minimum. Ideally over 3 months.
What happens after the beta?
After the beta, The Mid-Life Travel Awakening will become a more polished full program with a higher investment.
Beta participants get early access, a smaller group, more direct conversation, and the founding member price. You get to keep lifetime access with all future updates.
