What have you found disappointing in your travels?
When we climbed the Cologne Cathedral, we were not deterred by the “no lift – no joke” sign nor the daunting prospect of 533 steps. As we ascended, we got ever loftier views of the city below, and we were mesmerized by the small ants going about their business below.

What is the coolest historical structure you’ve visited?
The Cologne Cathedral mesmerized us from the very moment we saw it. A backdrop to the central train station, it’s impossible to miss, and it gives a striking first impression of the city.

Have you ever rubbed a statue for good luck?
The Heidelberg monkey is a must-visit for those in town. It is said touching the gold disk will bring fortune, rubbing the fingers ensures a return to Heidelberg, and stroking the nearby bronze mice will improve fertility.

Where is your favorite high-rise viewpoint?
The Main Tower is a really cool way to take in the sights of the city of Frankfurt, Germany (and it was discounted with the Frankfurt Card). This 200m skyscraper is the fourth tallest in Germany (the other top three tallest buildings are also in Frankfurt), and it’s the only one with a public viewing deck.

The town of Heidelberg is magical with its historic old town. With a hilltop castle and views along the Nekar river, we were completely blown away. There is something special about this place that made us feel like we were in a fairytale. The cobblestone streets and medieval architecture were a pleasant view into old Germany. It is a wonderful place for a romantic holiday and the perfect fairytale town.
