Table Mountain – Hiking vs. The Cableway

We are back in the world of internet, so we’re catching up with some of our African adventures!

We started our worldwide trek with two weeks in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa.  With a photogenic curving coastline and a variety of activities to offer – from penguins and wine to hiking and history – we were excited for this first stop in a new continent.

One of the main attractions we were looking forward to was ascending the centerpiece of the city: Table Mountain.  We were there long enough to climb it twice, and each was a unique experience.  Which method would you prefer?

Our First Canada Adventure – Vancouver B.C.

While my first trip outside the U.S. was Japan, this was my second, believe it or not. A mere six-hour drive from Portland, and you can escape the U.S. for Canadian hospitality. We took a long weekend for the Fourth of July holiday and ended up celebrating Canada Day on July 1st.  It was something truly special as they really know how to be patriotic. We hit all of the tourist areas and also hit up some amazing places within the city.  We enjoyed great food and stayed in a mid-rise apartment building with a view of the city.  I left thinking, why didn’t I do this sooner?
